Often people calling looking for a ‘different’ Caribbean experience are not even aware of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, known to the locals as SVG. People may have heard of Mustique in the earlier Mick Jagger days, or more recently from the villa holiday that William and Kate joined the Middletons on. SVG consists of 32 small islands and cays that offer the ultimate Caribbean experience, sort of Robinson Crusoe desert island style, a short flight away from Barbados.
A villa on tiny Mustique is an option, but so is their one exclusive hotel, the Cotton House, a favourite with international jet-setters. Bequia (pronounced Beck-Way) is adorned with villas and also offers the Bequia Beach hotel as their exclusive hideaway. The most popular with my clients is the private island of Palm Island’s sheer escapism. Or Young Island, again a desert island just for you. Another affordable favourite is Canouan, staying at the rustic -newly refurbished – Tamarind Beach hotel in a Beachfront room. Heaven.
Finally for this blog, on St Vincent itself is the relatively new Buccament Bay, a family-friendly all-inclusive resort which is winning awards left, right and centre.
All islands provide a base for sailing to other islands and cays – Tobago Cays has the wow! factor – and diving and snorkelling in some of the best waters in the world. These are magical islands offering holidays of a lifetime!
