The House, Barbados

The House, Barbados is one of the few Adult-only resorts in Barbados. On the beautiful west coast, a chic, tranquil retreat for adults to unwind in it’s understated elegance. A complimentary jet lag revival massage in a beach cabana greets you after check-in and before enjoying complimentary afternoon tea and evening canapés. Next door is the Zagat-rated Daphne’s Restaurant, in between The House and Tamarind, all properties owned by the Elegant Hotel Group. Morning brings a complimentary Champagne breakfast, a wonderful start to the day. The Elegant Group offer complimentary (have I said ‘complimentary’ too much?) water taxis to the other Elegant Hotels West Coast properties ie Crystal Cove and Colony Club.

If you don’t want to just ‘fly-and-flop’, there are plenty of activities at The House (and of course all over the island – just ask us). Motorised and non-motorised watersports are complimentary and there is a Beach Ambassador service.

The House is a very special indulgence. Reconnect with each other! Treat Yourselves!

The Elegant Hotels Group continues to gather accolades from various Travel Industry bodies including a Gold Magellan award for The House in the Standard Room Design category and a Silver in the Upscale Resort/Hotel category. All five properties and Daphne’s received the 2013 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence award.

Colony Club reopened on 1 October unveiling the new restaurant and rooms which had been renovated during the September closure.

The House is now Number 1 on TripAdvisor due to their impeccable service. The reviews are wonderful!

Crystal Cove’s latest upgrades are mainly focused on the outdoor and dining areas. With new stylish pool deck furniture and an overhaul of Drifters restaurant, now their Reflections restaurant will present an equally stylish new look. Also great news that Crystal Cove will be introducing all day dining.

And Turtle Beach will also be focussing on their outdoor and dining areas, updating all three restaurants during the next few months.

And with the lovely Tamarind hotel, that makes up the five Elegant Hotel Group’s Barbados properties covering West and South, All-Inclusive and various board options, Adult only and family-friendly.

One of the top hotels to visit in Barbados is the Fairmont Royal Pavilion, a seriously stylish Bajan sanctuary to relax and unwind, with all the elegance and sophistication of old-world charm. Stunning views over one of the best beaches in Barbados.

Arguably unrivalled facilities, with everything for families with children, little ones and teenagers entertained with treasure hunts and the whole range of watersports, meeting the funny little green monkeys that wander around the grounds or getting close up and personal with the greenback turtles who nest very close by – there are daily swims with the turtles. (note: children under 11 yrs old are only able to stay from mid-March to end of October). Time for parents or for couples; garden tours of the amazing luxurious grounds, the leisurely or invigorating watersports, a fitness centre, a game of tennis, and a concierge who will help and arrange all possibilities on and around the island.

Dining is amazing at the http://www.barbadostraveldeals.co.uk/barbados/hotels/fairmont-royal-pavillion.htmlrestaurant or the Palm restaurant, both very highly regarded on the island. All fish is sourced locally and guests can join the fisherman and catch their own Snapper or King Fish which the chef will then help prepare and cook that evening!

All guest rooms overlook the stunning sparkling Caribbean sea and if staying in a Junior Beachfront Suite, you will be fast-tracked through Customs and Immigration on arrival at the airport, you will have a butler service and complimentary canapés served on your private oceanfront balcony each evening.

And lots more. Call us at Barbados Travel Deals on 0845 6434 606 // 01977 524235 for more information and an exceptional deal to stay at the http://www.barbadostraveldeals.co.uk/barbados/hotels/fairmont-royal-pavillion.html, Barbados.

In the Sunday Times yesterday, it refers to the ‘blinged up and flashier hotels……of the west-facing Platinum coast of Barbados‘. Although the west coast is the more affluent area, there are still great lowish-costing deals on the west coast for luxury options. Staying at Tamarind or Mango Bay will deliver everything you may want. The South coast is generally more affordable but still has amazing hotels on wonderful beaches. Bougainvillea or Ocean Two are favourites for luxury but easy access to the St Lawrence Gap and Oistins nightlife. I’m not sure that I agree with ‘better for watersports and nightlife’ as I love both coasts and if you want to just sail up the west coast on a catamaran on still turquoise waters (as we do), the west coast is it. If you want to party in St Lawrence Gap every night , then maybe the South coast is for you, but restaurants and bars are in abundance in Holetown on the west coast. Wherever you are, it’s easy by public transport or taxi to get to Oistins in the South for the ‘must-do’ Saturday night street party.

I’m regularly asked about the cost of eating out in Barbados. My view is that it is as expensive or as cheap as you’d like. The restaurants always highlighted are the fine dining more costly restaurants, such as The Cliff, more about the wonderful ambience and experience. Yes, dining in such places may well be hundreds of pounds but you can go and savour the experience over a cocktail or two instead.

I am still in the anti-All Inclusive in Barbados brigade, but simply because Barbados does not offer the huge All Inclusives like Mexico, Dominican Republic etc, where you don’t really leave your enormous ‘compound’. Despite this, in Barbados Mango Bay and Crystal Cove are firm favourites and Turtle Beach and Casuarina are all great All Inclusive options if you have kids or want to fix your budget.

But Barbados is about the island. Barbados Travel Deals will advise on cheaper places to eat, the street vendors, the ‘white van’ vendors, the fish fries (Oistins in particular) and the supermarkets offering wonderful cooked local food. Alcohol is cheap if you stick to their (light) Banks beer and Mount Gay or Cockspur rum. You don’t need bottled water as Barbados has one of the cleanest water supplies in the world (filtered naturally through limestone) but don’t take my word on that – I just always drink tap water there. Groceries are costly at the supermarket, but it is an island and so most is imported. Look for local foodstuffs and give it a go.

Come to us at Barbados Travel Deals and we will offer plenty of advice and then once booked, we will send you all the information you may need to suit your needs.

If you want to be close to a local town for dining and nightlife, it’s quite simple in Barbados. If you’re on the west coast, you are generally close to Holetown eg. Mango Bay, Colony Club, Coral Reef Club, The Sandpiper to name but a few within walking distance, or a little further north, the smaller Speightstown, closer to Cobbler’s Cove, Little Good Harbour or Sugar Cane Club. In the South, the closest ‘centre’ would be St Lawrence Gap, two All Inclusive hotels on it’s doorstep are Turtle Beach and Casuarina. Strewn along the way there are lovely oceanfront bars and restaurants and even open air nightclubs playing Calypso, Reggae, Soca (Soul Calypso) and R&B. It’s always great to find a local band playing at Harbour Lights or The Boatyard , both near Bridgetown or at the Reggae Lounge in St Lawrence Gap. To add to the evening entertainment on offer, take a romantic cruise in the moonlight or take in a show extravaganza with dinner or just simply quietly relax just about anywhere. Barbados has it all! And whatever you do, don’t miss the Friday fishfry at Oistins (south of the Gap)!

Get away from the west and south coast hotels and tourism in Barbados. Visit Fisherpond Great House, near Welchman Hall Gully, near the centre of Barbados. This is a beautifully restored plantation house which offers Barbadian tradional dishes at their wonderful buffet lunches on Thursdays and Sundays. Sir Cliff Richard says”…for a trip back in time, the wonderful Sunday lunch at Fisher Pond Great House is a real Barbadian experience not to be missed”.
You can walk your lunch off in the tranquility of the Welchman Hall Gully, a sense of a tropical forest mixed with Barbadian and more than a hundred other exotic tropical plants.

St Elmos in Moontown is situated in the north of Barbados and is said to be ‘the smallest town that can be found anywhere in the world. It is by square footage the most dynamic town with the most customers worldwide.’

A place at the opposite end of the island to Oistins, where the island’s bigger and better known street party takes place on a friday. But try out Moontown, even more chilled out, a place to eat, drink and chill. Dance and sing if you want to join in. Locals come from all over the island and international visitors alike.

Moortown is a few minutes north of Little Good Harbour (with The Fishpot restaurant) and Speightstown. It’s inexpensive and you’re truly in Barbados with all the locals.

There’s plenty more that we at Barbados Travel Deals can tell you about. First-timers always get a personal letter with some recommendations that are off the beaten track. Call us on 0845 6434 606.

Although debatable, when a Client asks me for somewhere a bit ‘different’ in Barbados, I almost always go straight for Little Arches and Little Good Harbour. Two very different properties with the former being in the South, close to St Lawrence Gap and all it’s fun life in the evenings and particularly close to Oistins for the friday night street party and wonderful fish fry, bringing locals and tourists from all over the island. The latter, Little Good Harbour is on the west coast but north of the ‘West Coast strip’ of hotels, closer to Speightstown, a charming little non-touristy, almost run-down looking town (look for the charming as there’s plenty to find). Little Good Harbour has the famous Fishpot restaurant and it’s fishing village offers it’s own Friday fish fry. The only potential downside to Little Good Harbour is that it’s easier to get out and about with a car – hence the real hideaway feeling.

Call us at Barbados Travel Deals to chat about it as there is still public transport – and obviously taxis – that can take you into the more populated areas if you wanted. An escape from Barbados glitz right in Barbados!

The House, another of the Elegant Group of hotels in Barbados, is also undergoing extensive refurbishment this summer, closing during September and re-opening in all it’s new glory.

The warm, rich wood style of The House, already refurbished in the public areas, will be extended to the bedrooms, with all new beds and french doors onto the balconies which offer those stunning ocean views on the west coast. The bathrooms will also be updated with state of the art showers.

The House is next door to one of it’s sister Elegant hotels, Tamarind, with Daphne’s restaurant in-between.

Relaxed rustic charm with superlative service and champagne breakfasts. What more could anyone want. Book this luxury holiday with Barbados Travel Deals now.
