In the Sunday Times yesterday, it refers to the ‘blinged up and flashier hotels……of the west-facing Platinum coast of Barbados‘. Although the west coast is the more affluent area, there are still great lowish-costing deals on the west coast for luxury options. Staying at Tamarind or Mango Bay will deliver everything you may want. The South coast is generally more affordable but still has amazing hotels on wonderful beaches. Bougainvillea or Ocean Two are favourites for luxury but easy access to the St Lawrence Gap and Oistins nightlife. I’m not sure that I agree with ‘better for watersports and nightlife’ as I love both coasts and if you want to just sail up the west coast on a catamaran on still turquoise waters (as we do), the west coast is it. If you want to party in St Lawrence Gap every night , then maybe the South coast is for you, but restaurants and bars are in abundance in Holetown on the west coast. Wherever you are, it’s easy by public transport or taxi to get to Oistins in the South for the ‘must-do’ Saturday night street party.
