I’m not the most supportive of Barbados All Inclusive holidays, simply because I love the island so much and see Barbados as your resort, rather than the hotel complex. However, I do agree that when you have children to keep fed, watered and amused, the Barbados All Inclusive holidays option can put your mind at ease.

This is where the Almond Beach Village comes into its own, as it makes a great base for a Barbados all inclusive holiday. The Almond Beach Village is a larger resort with ten pools, five restaurants and five bars, yet you can always find your own private spot to chill. It is high up on the West Coast at Speightstown. Also it is part of the Almond group of hotels and so adults can visit and exchange dining with the nearby Almond Beach Club and the Almond Casuarina, a beautiful and very child-friendly hotel on the South coast.

So if you are looking to go all inclusive Barbados / try a Barbados all inclusive holiday, try the Almond Beach Village / Almond resorts you should be pleasantly surprised!

Enquire about the Almond Beach Village and other Almond Resorts at Barbados Travel Deals.  We’ll give you one to one advice and direction to help ensure you have the holiday of your dreams.

The House Barbados has always intrigued me a little. Having never stayed there, but visited often, I can’t exactly tell whether a guest feels as wonderful as I felt. The House is a very special place in an amazing location.

Generally, I don’t often have Clients selecting The House but I feel a tad guilty as I very recently had a Client return from The House with wonderful memories and joyous comments on the service at The House hotel Barbados.

The big big difference – The House is adult only. Adult only hotels in Barbados? That is rare.

It is wonderful open-air living, contemporary design and a beautiful feeling of harmony.

I believe that The House ethic is to make you feel special, make your holiday a special one, and offer all that you need for a perfect Barbados holiday.

Don’t forget, that as The House is one of the group of ‘Elegant’ hotels, you can walk next door (Daphne’s restaurant is in-between) to Tamarind, or you can take a complimentary water taxi to Crystal Cove or to Colony Club and hang out at any of these – if you have dinner included, you can ‘exchange’ for dinner at another Elegant hotel.

Please talk to Barbados Travel Deals to discuss more options and get more information on the House Barbados or any other luxury Barbados hotels from our portfolio –  you can enquire and book the House Barbados on 0845 6434 606 and view this wonderful Barbados luxury hotel at

Bridgetown Barbados; the capital of Barbados and commercial centre of Barbados, originally named “Indian Bridge”, then the ”town of St. Michael” in official documents, before finally being named Bridgetown.

Bridgetown has always been a hub of activity from early days when ships from Britain (and Europe) would bring in various supplies and load up the Barbados molasses, sugar and rum to take back with them. This area, known as the Careenage, was the hub for all inter-island trading vessels. Nowadays, the Careenage homes lovely yachts, catamarans and fishing boats. Eat at the relaxed Waterfront cafe Barbados which overlooks the water.

Broad Street Bridgetown is the central street in the town with banks, duty free shops and department stores in particular the vast Cave Shepherd store. Don’t forget to carry your passport and tickets for duty free prices!

Whilst Bridgetown Barbados is inviting for all its historic buildings and the Parliament buildings and for those looking to buy their diamonds and expensive duty free goods, I avoid when I can. It is a must for first-time visitors, even just to feel the hustle and bustle, but for basic shopping now, I avoid as it is so very busy. It really is impossible to park – don’t drive in Bridgetown! get a bus or cab or use the hotel shuttle.

I will update with more specifics on Bridgetown capital of Barbados in future blogs.

Barbados Travel Deals can give you plenty of information on places to go and things to see in Bridgetown Barbados and we are renowned for our first class, one to one advice to help ensure that your Barbados holidays are one of the most memorable holidays you will experience.  View our Barbados hotels and Barbados villas and enquire about your Barbados holidays now.

Steel pan music / steel bands originally came from the nearby islands of Trinidad and Tobago, but steel pan music / steel drums music is also popular in Barbados. Most hotels around the island have live steel pan music / steel drum music sometime during your stay particularly on Sunday afternoons, so look out for the steel bands in Barbados.

Please note some of the main Steel pan events at this year’s Crop Over festival;

  • Pan Fusion – held at the Prime Minister’s  official residence - this  Steel pan music is intermingled with the sounds of legendary local saxophonist Arturo Tappin
  • Bridgetown Alive Pantabulous – a big party in Bridgetown with Steel pan music, dancing and even stilt walkers.
  • Pan in de City – steel pan music in Bridgetown by the waterfront.

Pan Pun De Sand – family fun on the beach with steel bands from Barbados and other Caribbean islands

For more information about steel bands and where you might find them, call Barbados Travel Deals.  We can also assist with Barbados villas as well as Grenada holidays / twin centres.

In Barbados, here’s a tour with a difference, away from all the ’standard’ tours of the more obvious places. The Barbados Cove Bay Winter Segway tour lasts under two hours but takes you on a tour of the breathtaking views from the North Eastern coast of the island of Barbados.

Up here the grass is green and the surf is strong – a very different feel to the calm waters of the ‘platinum’ stretch of the west coast of Barbados.

You need to dress appropriately as you will be riding over muddy and often rocky terrain, fields full of cows and the striking native black belly sheep.

Get some decent shoes on and get segway-ing on the Barbados Segway tour / Barbados Cove Bay Segway tour.

You can find out more from us at Barbados Travel Deals where we also have details of many more Barbados tours.  You can of course also get a great deal on your luxury Barbados holidays!

The Colony Club Barbados is another of the ‘Elegant’ hotels on Barbados, along with Tamarind, Crystal Cove, The House Barbados (all on the West coast) and Turtle Beach Barbados in the South. All making the most perfect luxury Barbados holidays.

The charming and restful Colony Club hotel was a former private Colonial club and is in walking distance of Holetown for plenty of restaurants and some shopping. There is a bus stop right outside the Colony Club hotel if you don’t want to taxi about.

The beach is narrower up here on the west coast (than for example at The House or Tamarind) but still very beautiful.

There are four freshwater swimming lagoons and a whirlpool and two great restaurants and bars. Spa services, exercise facilities, two tennis courts and a library with internet access.

The Colony Club also offers complimentary water sports including including snorkeling, sailing, boogie boards, kayaking, windsurfing, water-skiing and stand-up paddling.

Of course there is a complimentary water taxi service to the other west coast Elegant hotels and if meals are included in your board, you can opt to have your meal at another Elegant hotel whilst visiting.

Great news for the Cropover festival in Barbados. Their very own and now a worldwide name, Rihanna, is finally performing at the Kensington Oval on her home island of Barbados.

On Friday August 5th 2011 as part of the Sweetest Summer Festival, Rihanna will bring her stage show and full entourage to Barbados in what is being dubbed her ‘Home Coming Concert’.

The Barbados Tourism Authority is very happy to have been able to make this a reality for Barbadians and for visitors to the island / those on Barbados holidays. It also adds an amazing promotion during the Cropover festival in Barbados.

A bundled ticket is to be offered for Cohobblopot (the best of social commentary performers and plenty of all sorts of dancing) and the Rihanna Concert, offering an ‘early bird’ ticket to allow people the opportunity of seeing the two biggest Barbados shows of the year at a reasonable price.

Tickets for the bundle will go on sale as of Friday July 8th 2011.

A limited number of early bird tickets for Cohobblopot only are already available from all NCF box offices for US$25.

Rihanna’s performance will be part of her LOUD world tour. It will be a very special concert in Barbados!

Here at Barbados Travel Deals, we can help you to organise a Barbados trip / Barbados holiday around these dates with accommodation to suit your budget be it a budget Barbados hotel, luxury Barbados hotel or luxury Barbados villa.  View some of your options now and call us for the best advice.

As restaurants in Barbados go, I must agree with many tripadvisor reviewers and say that it is also one of our favourites Barbados restaurants.

Also, as we often stay at the Tamarind Barbados, it’s as close as it can be without actually being inside the Tamarind hotel grounds.

It is hard to miss the bright redness of this restaurant, but as it’s basically built as a chattel house which you find all over Barbados, you could drive by.

Outside the Scarlet restaurant looks quite unassuming (apart from the redness) but walk inside and you could be in any trendy little bar in a major city in the UK. The Scarlet is a delightful harmony of island peaceful paradise and contemporary city eating and drinking.

Large Andy Warhol iconic prints, martini glass seats and a kitsch look and feel – not least because of the central disco ball.

The food is special at the Scarlet restaurant Barbados where you will find Bajan dishes cooked at their best. You can eat dinner (Miss Francis’s Fish pie 10/10) or you can choose to just have a few yummy nibbles (crab and mango tostini 10/10) with a few of their amazing cocktails. At the Scarlet restaurant they will create whatever you’d like to drink.

The Scarlet restaurant is closed on a Sunday and Monday but is open on all other days from 5pm until whenever it closes (you can even arrive after midnight). Excellent food without the sting of the top west coast prices.

Make sure you pay a visit to the Scarlet restaurant Barbados and be sure to call us at Barbados Travel Deals to arrange your Barbados holidays and do feel free to have an informal chat with us about dining in Barbados / Barbados food.

There are plenty of options for relatively cheap dining in Barbados restaurants. I always give various options to my clients, but Tripadvisor does a good job here to help you lower the price of eating out at restaurants in Barbados.  We have placed a link to this at the foot of this blog.

If you book your Barbados holidays through  we can offer recommendations for fine dining restaurants in Barbados and the more economical options when it comes to food in Barbados. Often, the latter offers the more local Bajan style food.

Call us on 0845 6434 606 or email on and talk to us about the options and an informal chat about Barbados restaurants, the food in Barbados and Barbados holiday deals.

Okay, giving some of the tips and tricks of knowing how to eat healthily when it comes to Barbados food, dining in Barbados.

You really can eat more simply and cheaper in Barbados, even if staying on the West coast.

There are roti sheds scattered around and they offer what are similar to curry-filled wraps, a scrummy way to satisfy a lunch craving and a staple diet when it comes to Barbados food.

The Chevettes (a tad MacDonald’s like), one in Holetown, offers these too and also the one thing I go for – their ice cream smoothies. Yum!

But in the major supermarkets, they now offer a cafe-style hot buffet. Most tourists avoid as at noon time there are queue of locals – join them! Join the queue and choose your food as you see.

I recommend – their chicken stew and their macaroni pie.

Ok, so not for the diet conscious and even avoid the macaroni pie after one trying per week if living healthily, but a wonderful taste of the local Barbados food.

I have to add for my husband’s sake, that most Bajans do actually avoid chocolate and sugary things and despite us Brits stereotyping Bajans as tubby people, the majority now are extremely health-conscious and take their Barbados food seriously.

Barbados offers a health conscious life.  Should you wish to experience some wonderful Barbados food, let us arrange your Barbados holidays for you, feel free to call us, as I pointed out, my husband is Bajan and having spent much time in Barbados myself, am able to suggest the best eating places whether extravagant or on a budget.  Browse our Barbados holidays, Barbados hotels and villas and get great Barbados holiday deals.
